Description

This chair, designed by Motomi Kawakami, combines reclining, swivel, and height adjustment functions. It comes in two types: high-back and low-back. The swivel base, which includes the reclining function, features a special mechanism that ensures an ideal reclining position without any manual adjustments, regardless of who is sitting in it.

Work Design
The sharp lines of the woodwork, from the backrest to the armrests, are shaped using advanced carving techniques. While maintaining a sharp impression, the top surface of the armrests has a gentle curve. A handle is subtly carved into the underside of the backrest, making it easy to move the chair in and out.

Back and seat design optimized for ultimate comfort

The backrest uses three-dimensionally molded plywood, and the area that rests on the lower back is further shaped to conform to the S-curve of the spine. The seat's urethane is also three-dimensionally constructed, and the pelvic support effect, which raises the back three-dimensionally, causes the pelvis to tilt forward, reducing the load on the lower back. The high-back version comes with a headrest to barely support the head.

Weight-Sensing Function

The weight-sensing function is a mechanism that automatically adjusts the reclining strength. Regardless of body type, lighter people can achieve their ideal reclining position with less force, while heavier people can achieve it with more force. Normally, chairs with weight-sensing functions tend to have a tendency for the back and seat positions to become misaligned when reclining, but this chair minimizes the misalignment between the back and seat by making the seat movement as close as possible to the back movement, thus creating optimal seating comfort.
