Rush is a natural material, so it is easier to cut than chemical materials. If the weaving system breaks in the middle of the machine during weaving, the part you want to cut may pop out, as shown in the photo on the right. This is not a defect, but a phenomenon called "breakage". If you cut the breakage with scissors or nail clippers, you can use it as is.
Do note that the whitish color is not defective, it is the color of the grass roots. This is due to the inherent properties of rush grass and is not a defect. This is the color of the white root part of the rush. The color of the rush becomes whitish towards the roots, and becomes brownish towards the tip.
