Yanagawa Dantsu is our own brand of the highest quality rush rugs. We use over 4,000 carefully selected grasses for each tatami mat. (2,700 to 3,000 pieces of general domestic products) The hems used in this product is made from ``Kurume Ori'' from Kyushu, made from approximately 300 to 400 threads. So it's durable and long lasting. The craftsman (former) is a skilled craftsman who has devoted 20 to 40 years to this field.

Ikehiko Premium Kasuri Yanagawa
① Mie weave
Normally, rush rugs can only have two colors threaded on the same line, but in the case of six-ply weave, three colors can be threaded on the same line. In other words, a wide range of colors can be expressed, and by layering three rushes, the carpet becomes thicker and more voluminous than a regular woven rush carpet.
②Grain weaving
This is a double weave method that uses 235 warp threads to create a clearly defined pattern. It is a highly skilled weaving method that creates complex patterns by changing the opening of the warp threads used to weave the rushes into it. You can create a unique look.

“About Dantsu Yanagawa.”
1. Compared to Chinese rush, it has a thicker epidermis and less debris due to wear. Approximately 1.5 times more sticky than Chinese rush. (Fiber physical test)
2.Skilled craftsmen check the materials and select the grass that is suitable for weaving and remove rushes that are not suitable.
3. The Yatsushiro area of Kumamoto Prefecture has a share of more than 90% of the area planted with grass in the country. The production of rushes is on the decline due to a decrease in demand for tatami mats due to changes in the housing environment, but ``Yanagawa Dantsu'' uses materials that have been carefully selected for ``grass length,'' ``quality,'' and ``color.'' . It is extremely rare and valuable.

Benefits of rush:
Clean the air
The inside of a rush has a honeycomb structure similar to a sponge, which has a large surface area. Therefore, when rushes breathe, they absorb nitrogen dioxide and formaldehyde from the air, purifying the air.
Deodorizing ability
It reduces the causative substances (ammonia, acetic acid, isovaleric acid, indole, trimethylamine, nonenal, pyridine, etc.) that cause sweat odor, aging odor, pet odor, cigarette odor, etc. that occur in daily life, and reduces bad odors.
Humidity control effect
Rush has an extremely high humidity regulating ability for a natural material. It has the ability to absorb moisture from the air when it is humid and release moisture when it is dry.
Relax
It is said that ``Tatami is the forest inside the room.'' Rush contains aromatic components of wood and has a healing effect similar to forest bathing. It has been confirmed that children who study in a tatami space can maintain their concentration and improve their grades.

Rush is a natural material, so it is easier to cut than chemical materials. If the weaving system breaks in the middle of the machine during weaving, the part you want to cut may pop out, as shown in the photo on the right. This is not a defect, but a phenomenon called "breakage". If you cut the breakage with scissors or nail clippers, you can use it as is.
