Designed by Tadaomi Mizunoe who supported the infancy of domestic furniture design. The chair was designed for viewing by the Kanagawa Prefectural Library in 1954 and was subsequently released as a standard product.
There has been an anecdotal story that more than 100 trial productions were repeated until commercialization, and Mr. Mizunoe continued to improve this chair like life work even after its release.
It features a simple structure in which the back and seat of molded plywood are sandwiched by the left and right frames. The seat plate is a three-dimensional curved surface along the body to provide a comfortable sitting experience. It is a monopod that will continue to be loved over 60 years after its release.
