Material information
To be certified as an Imabari towel, it must pass rigorous tests. The most notable feature of Imabari towels is their absorbency. To ensure they absorb water right from the start, even without washing, a towel is floated in water and tested twice to see if it sinks within five seconds: once before washing and once after washing three times. The fact that it sinks immediately means it absorbs water quickly. A number of other certification standards are also met, including tests for pilling and color fading, and durability. To ensure safe and reliable quality, only products that pass our unique certification standards can use the brand mark. The quality of Imabari towels is maintained by incorporating time and techniques cultivated over many years into each and every step of the towel manufacturing process.

Precautions
Using too much fabric softener can reduce the towel's inherent absorbency and cause pilling. To maintain absorbency, we recommend avoiding fabric softener as much as possible. Washing towels in plenty of water helps prevent damage to the fabric and prevents shedding. Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can stiffen the fibers and accelerate color fading due to UV rays. To prevent pile shedding, shedding, and shrinkage, we recommend washing in a laundry net and air-drying as much as possible. Be aware that contact with chlorine bleach or bleach may cause discoloration. The pile may get caught on zippers or Velcro when washing, causing it to come off. If the pile does come off, cut the base of the pile.
