野球のバットの木
年輪は明瞭で美しい杢目を有するため、家具や小物に人気のある樹種。やや重硬で、弾力性を有するため野球のバットやラケット、スキー板などに使用される。富山でタモがとれるため、バット産業が盛んになったといわれる。樹皮は漢方薬とされ、止瀉薬や結膜炎時の洗浄剤として用いられる。
