This is a Japanese design created at the request of Uonuma City, Niigata Prefecture . We created a lighting product with a mechanism to generate sustainability and employment opportunities . "Sasuuonuma" (left side of the image) is a sustainable design that combines handmade washi paper and scraps . When lit, the fibers of the washi paper and the delicate shape of the scraps inside emerge, and a soft light spreads through the washi paper shade. Although it has a lantern-like design, it also matches urban and stylish styling. It is recommended as an accent light in spaces such as hallways, or as a relaxing light in the bedroom.
The frame is made of raw iron with a brown rust finish, giving it the appearance of having been used for many years.
The shade is made of Karasuyama washi paper from Tochigi Prefecture. It is a traditional craft with a long history and is used at the Uta-go-kaihajime ceremony, and is a purveyor to the Imperial Household Agency. Each one is carefully handcrafted. When lit, the fibers of the washi paper shine through, creating beautiful shadows. *We have changed from Uonuma City washi paper to Karasuyama washi paper.
