Sugikojo (Cedar factory) is located in Ukiha City, Fukuoka prefecture, where the forestry and lumbering industry has been active and popular for a long time.
Beginning from the middle of the Meiji period, Sugikojo had mainly made wooden furniture such as chest of drawers. It gradually started to produce student desks, chairs, vault boxes and other general sports equipment to be delivered to schools across the country. In the early Showa era, as a school furniture factory, it received recommendation from Japan's Ministry of Education at the time, and its durable products gained high praise.
Taking advantage of the many years of experience in furniture making, Sugikojo are committed to continuing produce products that are safe, secure, and considering people and the environment.
杉工場は、昔から林業・製材業の盛んな福岡県うきは市にあります。
明治中期より家具製作を始め、創業当初は主に「箪笥などの木製家具」をつくっていました。
次第に「生徒用机・椅子、跳び箱などの体育用具全般」の製作を始め、全国の学校へ納品するようになります。昭和初期には、学校用家具工場として、当時の文部省から推薦を受け、丈夫な製品は高い評価を得ました。
それから家庭用家具が主製品となる現在にいたるまで、国内生産にこだわり、長年の経験を活かしながら、安心・安全、人と環境に配慮した製品づくりを続けています。
