In the world, there are many masterpieces made by unknown craftsmen from different countries and ages. <K&K replica series> is a series of nameless masterpieces redesigned to fit modern life.
The 1830 America Tray was designed with the image of a wooden box used by American shoemakers and accessory makers in the 1830s to store small parts and tools used in their work. Assembly is a locking process that does not use any nails or metal fittings (excluding knob attachment). For the drawers, we used a traditional joint technique called "stone pavement jointing" to create a box that gives the impression that the materials stand out more. Like the 1830 America Craft desk, only one drawer is missing. I would like to leave it up to the users to decide how they feel about the “margins”.
The main material used is natural oak from Hokkaido. The thick, hard, powerful and beautiful wood grain takes on a deeper luster as it is used. Natural oak is used for the drawer knobs, which are accented with a one-tone deep colour and a shape that has been turned on a potter's wheel. The inside of the drawer is made of reddish solid cedar to match the atmosphere of oak.
You can choose the finish from oil finish or persimmon juice + oil finish. Kakishibu is a naturally derived paint that has been used since ancient times in Japan. Unpainted furniture can be used as is, but you can also apply persimmon tannin or oil painting yourself. After repeated maintenance, it will eventually be handed over to the next generation. I hope that it will be an opportunity to create such a cycle.
