Designed by Domei.me collaborate with NPO Uonuma Exchange Network Japan design produced at the request of Uonuma City, Niigata Prefecture. We have created lighting products that are sustainable and have a mechanism that creates employment opportunities . "Thin kanna" series made by reusing plane scraps . When lit, the warm orange light that passes through the trees gently illuminates the room.

Thin plane scraps with a thickness of about 1 mm can be rolled into a mold to apply stronger tension. Inspired by the honeycomb structure.
"Sinkanna 02" is more compact than Sinkanna 01. Two colors, bright natural wood and brown wood.
When lit, the shadow of the shade will be reflected on the wall. The size and intensity of shadows will vary depending on the distance between the luminaire and the wall.

"Let's cherish the earth" 　-Designer's comment "Lumber" that comes out when producing products. Is it okay to solve it with the word unavoidable? I always have such a question. At that time, I received a design request from Uonuma City. When I visited the site and saw the abundant nature, I felt that I had to cherish the earth . Therefore, we reviewed the garbage and things that are thrown away , and put the idea of ​​valuing resources into shape.

In addition, heavy snow arrives in Uonuma City, Niigata Prefecture almost every year. During the winter, heavy snowfall areas are forced to make different names such as inns. I thought about lighting design that creates employment at a time when internal work is one of the important jobs. During the long winter, each household rounds the plane scraps from Uonuma City one by one, and by the time it is completed as a shade of lighting, a mild spring will come.

It is a sustainable design that is completed by the people of Uonuma City carefully hand- crafting light and thin canna scraps and reviving the life of precious trees. People from NPOs and labor facilities in Uonuma City also participate in making works.
